Ice Session 2 – Combination of different puck skills like shooting, passing and stick handling. Team aspect drills of different offensive and defensive strategies are also covered. There will also be an extensive preparation program of checking instruction that teaches kids how to make a check and also take a check to prevent injuries and also help with the transition of players moving up the check hockey for the first time.

Goalies receive one hour of separate ice instruction from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Classroom Instruction

Hockey Classroom – Various aspects of hockey as well as mental preparation, team building and goal setting. There will also be an entire class room on injury prevention and stretching.

Fun Video – Is meant to be a relax time where different hockey videos will be watched and some team building activities will be performed. This is the kids should bring a snack because they will not be allowed to leave the lecture room.

Dry Land Training

Dry Land 1 - Structured “Hockey Specific” workout run by Competes’ Dry Land Instructor Kyle Knudsen. Workouts are all age specific and focus on quickness, balance, overall strength and conditioning. Competes’ dry land sessions are second to none when it comes to overall intensity.

Dry Land 2 – Is an introduction of Lacrosse. We feel this is a great crossover sport for hockey and in the past camps, has become very popular with the kids. This is a structured “camp within a camp” that covers the basic skills of Lacrosse. This is done on Rink 2 where the ice is taken out. Kids use their hockey gloves, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads. (Unless kids have their own Lacrosse equipment)

Safety

This camp is an all day camp where parents will drop their kids off in the morning and pick them up in the late afternoon. We stress the importance of supervision and will have 2 group leaders for each group as well as no less than 4 instructors on ice at all times and also 2 rovers that help to ensure safety and help make this a good experience for kids and parents.
